Lake breezes, tree-lined routes and summer warmth make the drive along the Lake Erie North Shore Wine Route a trip to remember. This is wine country! Situated in the most southern part of Canada, the Lake Erie North Shore region shares the same latitude as northern California and the Bordeaux region of France. Rich soil and a moderate climate combine to produce some of Ontario’s best wines – many of them award-winning and highly acclaimed. The Lake Erie North Shore Wine Route contains over a dozen wineries… and counting. Some of the province’s largest wineries are found in this region, alongside a growing number of family-owned wineries, and roughly half of these wineries are located in the Town of Essex! Stop in for a private tour and tasting or take a trolley excursion package for an afternoon delight. Whether it’s a day away or a weekend getaway, Essex County’s wine country will not disappoint! Black
Bear Farms of Ontario Estate Winery One of the newest wineries on the Lake Erie North Shore wine route specializes in fruit wines.
